Artist: John Trumbull (vignette) (American, 1756-1843), American painter and diplomat. After fighting in the War of Independence, he moved to London, where he studied under Benjamin West, and he visited Paris. Painted various historical paintings of the events of the American War of Independence.
Engraver: W. Joseph Edwards (British, 1843-1864 (fl.), London line, stipple, and mezzotint portrait engraver.
Title Portrait of Benjamin Franklin (American, 1706-1790), one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. Franklin was the only person to have signed all four documents which helped create the United States of America.
