Title: Portrait of Jacqueline Marion. Jackie singing.
Titled: Jacqueline Marion. Inscription verso: Age 19. Titled: Jackie singing at the Rainbow; Inscription verso: Marion in Richmond, 1981 at the rainbow Inn. An extensive annotation in Freeman's hand, written on a separate sheet:
On the opposite page is my drawing of Jacqueline ("Jackie") done in Richmond, Virginia in 1981. She replaced all the young beauties I had once thought & loved in Charlottesville. She was sincere and cool. She was in need of both money and friendship with young men.
I met her at The Rainbow Tavern on Sheppard St. at Grace in Richmond, with her chaperone, an older woman, who also loved older men and young too.
"Jackie" had a good voice, even if she was a cripple. She had epilepsy, and had come to Richmond from the country - actually Buckingham Co. She was eager for friendship and to be saved from the streets.

Notes:
-  It was around the 1980s however when the nickname “Devil’s Triangle” would be applied to this section of Sheppard Street. The bars along the block at the time developed quite the reputation as a rowdy night scene. Locations with names like [...] Rainbow Inn all contributed. (Richmond urbanist).
