Artist: Pieter Schenk (Dutch, 1660-1718/19) engraver and mezzotinter who became a major publisher of prints and maps.

velantque caput, tunicasque recingunt..." in Latin and "Het menschdom synde door.." in Dutch, Ovid Metam[orphoses] 1: 398. Titled "Deucalion et Pirrha";  production detail: P. Schenk exc. and  Amst: C. P.  [Amsterdam Cum Privellege]. Collector's stamp AU in ink in Gothic script verso (not in Lugt).

Provenance:  The Estate of George "Yorgo" Demetrakopoulos; professor, assistant director of the Medieval Institute, and assistant to the dean at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, from 1965-2000.
ConditionSoiling, damp stains, and creases. Trimmed to image. Tip of upper left corner missing. The signs of aging are appropriate for the time. A detailed condition report is available on demand.
